Life of the Party: Poems Book by Olivia Gatwood

*Life of the Party* by Olivia Gatwood is a poetry collection that explores themes of violence, fear, and the experiences of women in a world shaped by danger and societal expectations. Gatwood draws heavily on her own fears, particularly surrounding the true crime genre and its focus on the murder and victimization of women. Through poems that range from raw depictions of violence to celebrations of womanhood, the book balances anger with resilience. Some poems challenge the glorification of "dead girls" in media, while others honor the vitality and defiance of women in the face of these narratives. The collection’s powerful voice gives space to both grief and empowerment, making it a stirring commentary on the female experience.
