The Caves of Steel Novel by Isaac Asimov

The Caves of Steel by Isaac Asimov is a science fiction novel set in a future where humans live in massive, enclosed cities due to overpopulation and fear of the outside world. The story follows New York City detective Elijah Baley, who is assigned to solve the murder of a Spacer (an advanced human from a separate, spacefaring society). To his dismay, Baley must work with R. Daneel Olivaw, a humanoid robot, to solve the case. Initially distrustful of robots, Baley gradually learns to overcome his prejudice as they uncover a plot that questions human-robot relations and humanity's future in space.
